“Africa is not just a place; it is an emotion, a state of being where the rhythm of life beats in harmony with the pulse of the wild.”
Welcome from Jake & Quinn
Our family has a deep appreciation for the power of travel and the role it can play in our learning and growth, from gaining new perspectives and global understanding to seeing the world through the eyes of others and becoming more self-aware and compassionate.
I co-founded the Transformational Travel Council and Explorer X, a Seattle-based travel design company, to create a movement in travel. Through our leadership, we're guiding travel and tourism towards taking a more conscious and mindful approach to how (and why) we travel. Doing so amplifies the benefits, impacts, and positive change for travelers and the people and places visited during those experiences.
This year, Quinn is required to do a minimum of 30 hours of volunteering as part of his curriculum, so we've decided to head to Tanzania and the Serengeti to fulfill those hours in a more meaningful, mindful, and conscientious way. Our experiences there will include:
+ Coral Reef Restoration Volunteering
+ Engaging in Community Development Work
+ Spending a Night in the Bush with Maasai Warriors
+ Embarking on a Sunrise Mountain Climbing Adventure
+ Learning about the Serengeti Desnaring Program
+ Heading out on a Rhino Tracking expedition
+ Experiencing the Big 5 on Safari in the Serengeti
+ Spending time bonding with one another (and the group)
This time in Tanzania will very much be a ‘Rites of Passage’ experience where fathers and sons will bond through the adventures as well as deep, vulnerable, and meaningful campfire conversations as everyone there — fathers and sons — approaches key transitions in life in the months and years ahead.
Quinn and I are honored to invite you to join us on this volunteer safari experience in August. Please contact me or my business partner, Michael Bennett ([email protected]) at Explorer X, if you have any questions.
